Scarus species are very coloful parrotfish that has very interesting behaviors. They are hermaphrodites that will live in harems in the wild with one dominant male to three or more females. At night, the parrotfish will create a "sleeping bag" from slime that they produce to help protect them from predators. This act allows them to rest without being detected. They can grow to be over a foot in length and should be house in an aquarium large enough to allow for swimming space.
